Our Vision:

The Council exists to support the flourishing of contemplative spiritual direction in our region.

We Believe:

Spiritual direction seeks to listen the life-giving presence of God into articulation within the individual and the faith community. We believe that the spiritual journey is unique to each person and that God fashions and transforms according to the personal call within us.

Spiritual direction has a prophetic dimension which reveals God’s presence in all of life and calls for a lived response marked by justice, reconciliation ad healing for all people and creation.

The ministry of spiritual direction is a sacred trust, calling for the highest standards of contemplative formation, practice and accountability.

Our Mission:

The Council encourages and nurtures the ministry of spiritual direction, including the discernment of emerging invitations.

We practice this by providing:

• Formal Guidelines to foster the formation of spiritual directors and supervisors within formation programs;

• Formal Recognition for spiritual direction formation programs;

• a Code of Ethics for spiritual directors;

• opportunities for connection, support and collaboration among formators;

• co-operative relationships with Spiritual Direction Associations through their representatives on Council.
